We create exciting projects and initiatives for local communities.
This year we will be running some great projects for the whole community to get involved!
We inspire communities to come together on issues of common concerns and support them to resolve any problems and barriers they are faced with.
We build new opportunities for local people helping them to find employment and training opportunities.
We help disadvantaged communities gain the necessary life skills, work experience, qualifications and job opportunities to get back into work. Our Employment and Training Scheme is community based and includes CV writing, interview preparation, vocational skills training, confidence building and motivation support. We will also aim to provide job search facilities.
INFORMATION & GUIDANCE SERVICE
Our Information and Guidance Service aims to empower residents and local people with knowledge they can use to assist themselves. This service will be delivered by our qualified officer to provide a quality service. We caseload clients onto our employment and training register, this enables us to focus on client needs and target individual’s barriers to employment.
We have helped over 200 residents develop their financial knowledge and money management skills; reducing their dependency on money lenders and enable them to access affordable local credit.
Our Money Matters course helps communities who have varied financial needs and face considerable barriers like not having a bank account or having to make large repayments to door step lenders. We have identified these barriers during the delivery of our early courses to One Housing Group residents and have been able to adapt further provisions; with local Credit Unions.
We support community youth development throughout some of London’s most deprived neighbourhoods, in particular the London Borough of Camden. Many young people in London face severe problems of disadvantage. High levels of unemployment, low incomes, and high benefit dependency, which leads them feeling isolated and powerless.
All these issues reduce the opportunities for personal and community development amongst the youth. So we've created and developed a wide range of Activities and Schemes with young people for young people, providing opportunities for a brighter future.
We worked with residents on York Rise Estate in Camden to turn an unused space into a great Urban Community Garden.
